how come when someone lists an item for sale, if it enters the thousands, usually in the tens, they use the suffix ';k';...

like , corvette for sale%26gt;15k, the same goes for milage...why not just use the letter ';t';, since it is the first letter of the word thousand

even with the milage k doesnt stand for kilometers when used this way

LOW MILES! %26gt;15kHow come when someone lists an item for sale, if it enters the thousands, usually in the tens, they use the?
K stands for Kilo, the European metric equivalent of 1000. The metric system has grams, and kilo grams (thousands of grams). Americans have used it for quite a while in anticipation of conversion the the metric system.
