The church is to be sustained by offerings of the members, not by peddling various items to be added into the church budget.
1 Corinthians 16:1-2 - 1Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. 2Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
The church isn't a business. It's a collection of people who want to do what God wants them to do.
A small aside to the person who mentioned the money changers...
They would convert money into ';temple money'; which was used to buy various animals for sacrifices. Since many people would travel for large distances to the temple for the various Jewish feasts/sacrifices, animals were needed often, so they would sell them at the temple for ';temple money.'; The problem was, the animals were being marked up significantly over their value, and the temple was using animal sales to make a large sum of money. Jesus was angry at them for forgetting the true use of the animals (sacrifice), and using them for nothing more than a device to make money. Is it wrong to offer items for sale in church?
Yes, for a church is ONLY to be a house of prayer, nothing else.
Matthew 21:12-13
And Yahushua (Jesus) went into the temple of Elohim,
and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple,
and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers,
and the seats of them that sold doves,
And said unto them,
It is written,
My house shall be called the house of prayer;
but ye have made it a den of thieves. Is it wrong to offer items for sale in church?
It doesn't make any difference, since Christ did not open a single church.
He was sowing seeds that would produce a bountiful crop. This will explain what he was doing: http://gospelenigma.com
So sell whatever you want in church or elsewhere. Those things have nothing at all to do with what Christ was doing here on earth.
Our area churches have the biggest and best bake and rummage sales around. On the second day it is all you can cram into a bag for a buck. The money goes to the church afterwards.
It all depends.
Are the items of good quality and are they a good value? Do they serve to enhance the faith of believers?
What would Jesus do?
it depends what it is and if it is ok with the church. After church you could stand outside and ask people
depends sometimes people will sell things to raise cash for good causes I believe that's ok, but as a business no way
No as long as you are not selling yourself in church.
Yes.........
God's house is for praise, fellowship %26amp; worship.
If you want to sell stuff (Mary Kay........Avon.....etc.....) save it for after church in the parking lot
Christ drove the money changers out of the temple...its not for business but for worship.
Churches do it all the time...so they can pay their tax's
it depends on what items are these...
No, in the church or outside the church in the book of Acts it is written that ';they had all things in common';, and there was one couple whom sold their property and brought an price back to offer to the church it was not the act, but the lie of the amount that was wrong.
Depends what the items are %26amp; where the money is going...
can you define this question a bit more...
Coffee, tea, things to eat? What?
Edit: Based on your additions then I say yes.
It's not a store... but the profit margin in a church is ALWAYS good.
